Following the successful release of the BS85C20-3 touch switch device, Holtek is now delighted to announce the release of the BS85C20-5 device, which includes touch switch and display panel driver functions. The BS8C20-5 has 20 touch keys together with a 96 LED and 80 pixel LCD display drive capability.
Unlike the BS85C20-3, the BS85C20-5 also includes an external low speed oscillator function. As is the case with the previous device, this new device includes a fully internal system oscillator with three frequencies, 8MHz, 12MHz and 16MHz as well as a dual SPI/I2C communication interface allowing the devices to act as both master and slave terminals. The devices can also directly drive 1/2 or 1/3 bias LCD display panels as well as LED displays which have current drive capabilities of 40mA sink current and -20mA source current. Additionally, the BS85C20-5 provides 4K x 15 of Flash Program Memory, 384 bytes of RAM Data Memory and in addition to the two I/O pins for the external low speed oscillator, have up to 36 I/O lines that can directly drive a 96 (12 x 8) LED panel or an 80 (20 x 4) pixel LCD display panel.
The new device is suitable for products requiring both keyboard input and LED or LCD display functions, such as blenders, extractors, electric pressure cookers, disinfecting machines, intelligent refrigerators etc. The internal special features of the device offer the benefits of reduced PCB area and simplified external circuitry.
Along with other Holtek 8-bit MCUs, this new device has a full array of protection features including high noise immunity, Watchdog Timer and Low Voltage Reset to provide maximum protection against erroneous operation.
The BS85C20-5 is available in 28-pin SKDIP, 28-pin SOP, 28-pin SSOP and 44-pin QFP package types.
